Summer 2013 Major Sporting Events

The London 2012 Olympics may be nothing now but a fond, if distant memory, so if you are missing all of the sporting action of the summer you will be looking forward to the events coming in 2013. There are a number of major events planned in a multitude of different sports, covering everything from athletics to football and aquatics through to skiing; all of which are taking place right across the globe.

Events to Look Forward To

The Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow will see some of the world’s greatest athletes, including Jamaican Usain Bolt who coasted to triple gold medal victory in the London Olympics, at the World Championships that will be taking place here in August, from the 10th to the 18th. This competition is the biggest athletic event on the calendar, second only in stature to the Olympics themselves.

Rugby World Cup 7’s

The Moscow stadium will also be hosting the Rugby World Cup 7’s, a sport which will be making its Olympic debut in 2016. A total of twenty-four nations will be sending teams to the event which is set to start on 28th June and features both male and female teams taking part in the sport.

Football Fiesta

The Confederations Cup will be taking place in Brazil from 15th to the 30th June. The tournament will pitch the current champions and the host nation against the six top teams from FIFA’s confederation championships. With Brazil set to host the Summer Olympics in 2016 and the Football World Cup in 2014, this tournament should put their hosting skills to the test and show what they are capable of.
If you like your football with a little more fun set your sights on Tahiti in September, as this is where the 7th FIFA ‘Beach Soccer’ World Cup will be taking place, from the 18th to the 28th.
Luxembourg is the destination to choose if you want to witness the 2013 Games of the Small States of Europe as all of the action takes place between 27th May and 1st June 2013.

No matter what your sport you will find that there is a tournament happening somewhere, and with cheap Jet2holidays to just about everywhere available online there is no reason why you can’t watch the action as it happens instead of having to rely on what is televised at home. Be a part of the sport you love and show your support for your chosen team, live and in person in 2013.
