Yesterdays blog stated that Shanghai Squared’s own Colin Johnson would be running the full 26 miles of today’s marathon and joked he might do it in under two hours, nine minutes (the current record).
Imagine my disbelief when received a text from the man himself announcing that he had finished in just one hour and 26 minutes, thereby smashing the record. It took a few seconds for the penny to drop that Colin was only running the half marathon. The American college graduate has indeed not beaten the skinny Ethiopian record holder, this time.
I therefore have two apologies to make:
First, I apologise to our readers for publishing inaccurate information (a journalistic sin of the highest order.) Second, to Colin for somewhat undermining his actual achievement.
I’d like to finish this amendment by congratulating Colin Johnson on finishing today’s (not to be undermined) half-marathon in a very impressive 193 place (one hour and 26 mins).
